However, now that the situation is clearer, I\u00a0 would like to suggest some ways to deal with the new situation regarding <\/span><b>Jira<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and alternative tools. Later we will publish articles regarding Bitbucket and Confluence.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The main points of Atlassian\u2019s Announcement<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On October 16th Atlassian Corp. issued an official announcement, which could be shortened to the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They will stop developing the following products:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jira Software Server<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bitbucket Server<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Confluence Server<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crowd Server<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bamboo<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jira Service Desk Server<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>New licenses for the above products will be sold until Feb. 1, 2021 (and then the support renewal price is expected to go up).<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support and updates of the above products will be sold until Feb. 2, 2022.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support of the above products will be fully terminated on Feb. 2, 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The marketplace of 3rd party apps will be closed on Feb. 2, 2023.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2020\/12\/atlassian-announcement.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5472 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2020\/12\/atlassian-announcement.jpg\" alt=\"atlassian-announcement\" width=\"1510\" height=\"431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/atlassian-announcement.jpg 1510w, https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/atlassian-announcement-300x86.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/atlassian-announcement-1024x292.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/atlassian-announcement-150x43.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/atlassian-announcement-768x219.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1510px) 100vw, 1510px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The timeline diagram of the changes (from the website of Atlassian). Click to zoom in.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recommend that you read the official announcement of Atlassian (see the link at the end of this article).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>As an existing Jira Server user, what can you do from now on?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can move to <em>Jira Cloud<\/em>. We help companies to examine the implications and costs of such a move and to learn a number of ways to reduce those costs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can switch to <em>Jira Data Center<\/em>. This is essentially Jira Server in a high-availability configuration, which can be installed on-premises or in the cloud. However you should note that the price will probably be much higher. Moreover, since Jira Data Center runs the software of Jira Server and the development of the latter is discontinued, you shouldn\u2019t expect any new and improved features in Jira Data Center as well.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can stay with <em>Jira Server<\/em> (acknowledging that there will be no new features and updates). We can support that product as we have done during the last couple of years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can consider moving to another tool.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><b>If you don\u2019t want to stay with Atlassian Jira, there are a number of other options:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have divided these options into two categories: private server, and cloud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All options relate to tools, which we know, have tested, and represent, and for which we provide licenses, consulting, training and support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The list is quite long so we&#8217;ve prepared a questionnaire that will help you narrow down the options and make your choice easier.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/jira-alternatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/blog\/jira-alternatives\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1609243764034000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF1wtSU5RDG1p0UwXgvNTTJZ1nB-Q\">Click here for the questionnaire<\/a>\u00a0or contact us to ask questions about your certain situation (see contact information below).<\/p>\n<h3><b>If you prefer your own server (self-hosted\/on-premises):<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>GitLab<\/strong> &#8211; In addition to code management, version control and CI\/CD, GitLab includes issue management, and it all comes in a single package (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.almtoolbox.com\/gitlab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">see more here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Since 2017 we are officially certified to support GitLab, and we are the sole authorized representatives of GitLab in many countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Taiga<\/strong> &#8211; An open-source tool, which has already existed for a number of years. We are authorized to provide its support, in cooperation with the manufacturer.
